B and B Welcomes Equine Visitors in a South Australian First
Cats and dogs may not be welcome, but horses are at Adelaide Hills Bed and Breakfast Hannah’s Cottage. In a South Australian first, this Hall of Fame accommodation has opened their paddocks to equine visitors, offering in essence a bed and breakfast experience to horses accompanying guests to the cottage.
Hannah’s Cottage Proprietor Anne Parsons, also an active member of the Bed and Breakfast and Farmstay Accommodation Australia (BBFAA) committee, SA division, has witnessed the potential demand for such a service in recent months with visitors to the Adelaide Hills wanting to enrich their holiday with personalised activities and experiences.
"Enabling our guests to bring their horses to the Adelaide Hills means they can experience the area in a unique and very special manner," Anne Parsons said.
"The Adelaide Hills offers a myriad of activities and events for horse lovers including trails through the Kuitpo Forest or along the Kidman trail, all of which are best experienced from your own saddle."
Horses visiting the Balhannah property are kept in a beautiful gum-studded paddock adjacent to Hannah’s Cottage and equine guests will be provided with a biscuit of lucerne for “breakfast”. Guests can ride on the 20 acre property and make use of the picturesque Olympic sized dressage arena. If guests wish to experience some of the well signed trails within half an hour of Hannah’s, Anne can also arrange a delicious picnic hamper featuring regional produce and, of course, carrots for the horses.

This unique service is now available at a nominal cost. Horses must be accompanied by guests staying at the multi award-winning cottage which has a minimum two night booking policy.
